Introduction
The name record display returns one Library of Congress name heading record at a time formatted with MARC tags. The
buttons along the top of the page provide commands and navigation options.
To display the contents of a name record, start in the Name Browser or on the Name Search
page. Both of these screens include a small white button (
) after each established name heading that displays a drop-down menu of additinal links. For example:
Piaf, Edith, 1915-1963
Clicking on the white button in ClassWeb will display a pop-up menu of links that includes MARC record. Clicking on that link
will display a MARC tagged version of that record in a separate window or browser tab.
Command and Navigation Buttons
When navigating from record to record, the order that the records are displayed in will be the same as the page you
used to launch the record display screen. For the name browser, you will be in name heading order (including all
names or the subset you selected). For the search screen, you will be in access point order (if you were browsing an
index) or query result order (roughly record number order).
